First Hand -Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital
As I write this, I am at Dr L.H. Hiranandani hospital in Mumbai, for my mother’s Knee Replacement Surgery. I am getting a taste of a hospital stay and operations first hand! I must say that the Dr L.H. Hiranandani hospital has made good efforts in grooming their staff and maintaining the discipline of the systems. Security, nursing, housekeeping … all good and laudable. One good marketing tool I was introduced to was a ‘Relative Coupon’ for dental check, scaling and polishing. This strikes me as a good way to move traffic into underutilized departments at non peak hours!! Eye checks, health checks, diabetic consult, yoga, arthritis clinic etc. can also be better utilized in this way.
Just one suggestion for the hospital would be that process and utility of a surgery should be explained to the patient in detail. This will reduce anxiety especially when accompanied by an explanation with models of joints. When a patient knows how the surgery will be performed, it will go a long in allaying a patient’s fears…
